Auto & Engineering Show !

It was on 18th August , the Sunday was nearing its fag end and already the frustration of Monday had begun. Until I forced few of my friends to give me companionship for the Auto Expo. We all assembled at the CTC Nandambakkam around midday. There were close to 30 miniature hoardings which read "Ghost Riderz"  since the entrance. Out of interest rather than curiosity, we followed them and finally reached the arena. An average looking female was trying to grab attention with the help of a microphone until the Ghost Riderz came. 5 young adults with their sports gear on performed a variety of stunts in their customized  Pulsars which included 12 o clock wheelie, stoppie, burnout n stuff. The gripping show lasted for about 15 minutes earning huge applause and appreciation.
Unable to bear the mercury, we headed towards the air conditioned hall. On our way we spotted the metallic white Land Rover Discovery 4 and a jet black VW cutie The Polo.

As we entered and while I was filling the good-for-nothing registration form, the Audi LEDs grabbed my attention. Yes ! We had the AUDI RS5 beholding us. It was jaw dropping, eye popping and show stopping. The  4.2L FSI V8 coupled with a 7 speed transmission handcrafted by the engineers of Ingolstadt. The car can easily be yours if you are a MALLAYA, If not at the cost of your kidneys. Besides the RS5 was its cousin A6 which is no less in its own features.

There were various custom designers flaunting their personalized cars. It was a hair raising experience in this pink Getz with 8" Kenwood united with Pioneer playing songs from the UK top 40.

The new cars on display were Renault Fluence and the All new Ford Fiesta.Having roamed for over an hour we finally we headed towards the corporate or continental section. To our amazement there were 2 jumbo sized Parveen buses. One was called the "House on Wheels" and the other was "Conference on Wheels". Due to lack of time and long queues we took a tour of the corporate vehicle alone. The 18 seater if I m accurate has a refrigerator, HDTV and a chemical lavatory. The bus can be booked at 18k for an 8 hour trip and an additional kilometer costs a whopping INR 1500.

This is the Dilip Chabarria designed Innova which was one of its kind. At last my Sunday was well spent. Thanks to TOI and Zigwheels.
